Connecting your Haas machine and other equipment is the first step to getting started with Industry 4.0. Enabling machine data collection on Haas vertical mills, lathes, and other equipment enables you to monitor machine performance and conditions in real-time.
With an integrated shop floor, you can build a foundation for data-driven manufacturing, process optimization, and automation. Haas offers a variety of connectivity options. The method selected will depend on the age and control of the machine. We walk through these options below and link to more in-depth instructional content.
The most recent Haas control, the Next Generation Control, has been around since 2016. Machine data can be collected via the control’s ethernet port as well as wirelessly (see WiFi connectivity below).
This method of connectivity is relatively simple, consisting of connecting an ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the machine and adjusting the settings of the control. For full instructions, visit our Knowledge Base.
With the Haas Next Generation Control, there is also a built-in Wifi connectivity option. Once again, this is not a complex task. Simply navigate to “Settings,” select the “Network” tab, and under “Wireless Connection” you can follow the on-screen instructions. For a full video with instructions visit the Haas website.
Haas Next Gen Controls may have MTConnect capability. However, if the machine software is not on version 100.20.000.1200, it is likely you will receive fewer data points.

With the Haas classic control, you will need to connect via the serial port. Similar to Ethernet, connect via the serial port and adjust the setting under the I/O tab. You can find full instructions on our Knowledge Base.
