The entire world is on edge with the Coronavirus pandemic. Schools, borders, events, gatherings and workplaces are being closed at a rapid pace. It’s an uncertain and ever changing situation; one question that remains is what the impact of COVID-19 will be on the manufacturing industry?
In a survey this past week by National Association of Manufacturers, 78.3% of respondents say that the COVID-19 outbreak is likely to have a financial impact on their businesses; 53.1% of manufacturers are anticipating a change in their operations in the coming months; and 35.5% say that they are already facing supply chain disruptions.
MachineMetrics is in a unique position to comment on this crisis given it has aggregated anonymous machine utilization data from manufacturers. Given the significant changes to our economy over the last few weeks, our data science team has been paying particular attention to this data to help understand how manufacturing is being impacted by these events.
Data is power, and can help us stay informed about the right courses of action instead of defaulting to fear and panic. That's why we've brought together some of the foremost data-driven thought leaders from the manufacturing space to provide real-time insight into what's happening as well as to deliver predictions of what is to come next.
We have the opportunity, and the duty, to provide the public with information on impacts to manufacturing and the economy from Coronavirus.
